Senior High School Promotion
Starting with the Class of 2016
Students must successfully complete (minimum performance of 70%) the following courses to be eligible for graduation:
English 9
English 10
English 11 - a mixture of Composition and American Literature and Novels
British Literature or British Novels
Composition 12
Algebra or Applied Algebra 1 and Applied Algebra 2
Geometry or Applied Geometry
A third year of another math
Physical Science
Biology
World Geography
American Government
PE 10
Quad Classes – PE 9, Communications 9, Health, and Drivers’ Education
In addition to the above courses, the student must complete enough elective classes to achieve 210 credit hours.
Language Arts 40 hours
Mathematics 30 hours (must take course in grades 9, 10,11)
Science 30 hours (must take course in grades 9, 10, 11 and successfully complete 10 hours of physical science and biology)
Social Studies 25 hours (must successfully complete 10 hours geography and American history, and 5 hours of American Government)
Physical Education 15 hours ( must complete 12.5 hours of PE and 2.5 hours of health)
Drivers Education 2.5 hours block (including summer driving hours)
Others 2.5 hours of Communications
Subtotal 145 hours
Electives 75 hours
Total 220 hours
University of Nebraska - Lincoln Requirements
English
4 years - All units must include intensive reading and writing
experiences.
Mathematics
4 years -Algebra, algebra II and geometry are required for students
seeking admission, and one additional unit that builds on
a knowledge of algebra.
Social Sciences
3 years -One unit drawn from American and/or world history;
one additional unit drawn from history, American government
and/or
geography; and
a third unit drawn from any social science discipline.
Natural Sciences
3 years - At least two units selected from biology, chemistry,
physics, and earth sciences. One of the above units must
include laboratory
instruction.
Foreign Language
2 years - Both units must be in the same language
